Hi, guys! Sorry I’m so good at neglecting this blog. Life happens and sometimes it’s just best to focus on what you need to — otherwise, you’ll lose your mind. At least that’s how I felt. I had my own March Madness of craziness. Let me tell you about it.

// I got a new job! And it all happened so fast. I submitted my resume and cover letter on a Sunday night. They called me on Tuesday to set up an interview. I interviewed with an HR gal on Friday, set up another interview for Monday afternoon, and took four required tests over the weekend (a personality one and then one each about Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator). Monday afternoon rolled around and I had a quick 10- to 15-minute panel interview with four upper management people (one of them being the CEO [it’s a small company]). A couple hours later I get a phone call with an offer. I accepted the next morning, then gave my two weeks and started the day after St. Patty’s Day. I was not joking when I told you it’s been a whirlwind! I’m now a layout specialist that lays out/formats monthly newsletters for independent living/assisted living communities across the country. While I won’t share why I left (some things just need to stay private), I will say it’s been exciting to try something new, but I’ve been missing my awesome former coworkers a ton.

At my previous job, I could basically wear whatever I wanted. (A cardigan, jeans, and riding boots were a staple of mine.) But for this job, it’s business casual Monday through Thursday. Jeans are only allowed on Fridays. I must say I’m enjoying dressing up for work. I hope I continue to like it.

I enjoy getting dressed up for work. The red button down with the gray pencil skirt and mint green necklace is one of my favorite outfits. Like, ever.

// I had a rave-themed party at my house. My friend, Mary, is really into EDM (electronic dance music, for those of you not in the know) and the scene that goes along with it. So, to celebrate her birthday, we invited people over to my place and asked them to dress up in rave wear. Think colored wigs, glow sticks, and tutus. Mary even brought along her own mix to play (she has DJ skills!) during the evening. We all had fun talking and goofing off. I mean, how could you not have a good time when you’re making wands out of glow sticks?!

The birthday girl all dressed up! // Me with blue hair. Not sure blue is the best color for me...but it was fun! // I made David try on the wig, too. Can't you tell he's thrilled?! I'm such a mean wife. ;)

// I’ve been busy designing a Scrabble-themed Save the Date and a chevron-filled baby shower invitation. Next up after those is a combined graduation announcement and invitation for two people. After all this, I’m thinking I need to get an Etsy shop up and running. I’m so tickled people like my designs!

// I’ve been enjoying the spring weather whenever it pops into the 70s. David and I took Dexter on a hike this past Sunday. This is how happy he was. :)

I’m hoping to get back into the swing of things around here — posting more frequently than once a month and reading your stuff and writing comments — but if you’ve experienced my history, you know I go in spurts with this blogging thing, so I can’t promise much. I will say this, though: thank you for stopping by and reading my stuff whenever I do post!
